Lieber Memorial Associate Instructor Award - 2026

About Brenda Kucha Anak Ganeng

Brenda Kucha Anak Ganeng, M.S. is a Ph.D. candidate and Theodore Moenkhaus fellow in the Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology Education Track at the Indiana University School of Medicine - Indianapolis, where she has served as an Associate Instructor since 2022. Her teaching spans gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and developmental anatomy, reaching learners from K–12 outreach programs to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level health professions students. In her teaching evaluations, students recognized her for making learning anatomy accessible, student-centered pedagogy, and approachable spirit.

Brenda’s research focuses on anatomy education, sexual health curriculum in medical education, and trauma-informed approaches to the anatomy laboratory. Her dissertation examines how sexual health competencies are integrated across undergraduate medical curricula and explores curricular gaps, faculty practices, and graduating medical students’ preparedness to address sexual health with patients. Her research has been presented nationally and internationally at conferences including the American Association for Anatomy and the Central Group on Educational Affairs.

In addition to teaching and research, Brenda demonstrates strong leadership and service. She serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the American Association for Anatomy and has led the IU School of Medicine’s Anatomy Lab Outreach Program, providing hands-on anatomy education to more than 1,500 K–12 students annually across Indiana. Through her scholarship, teaching, and outreach, Brenda exemplifies a deep commitment to inclusive, reflective, and human-centered medical education.
