About Debbie Burkhart

Earl Luetzelschwab and Debi Burkhart have built a life rich with learning, curiosity, and generosity—qualities that shine through in their remarkable support of Indiana University. Earl, a 1969 graduate in English, pursued additional studies at Tulane and the University of Denver before building a career in both healthcare administration and education. Debi, an accomplished emergency room nurse and later a legal nurse consultant, has shared his passion for service and lifelong learning. Together, they have supported faculty professional development in the Department of English. They have also established two scholarships in the College of Arts and Sciences to support students in English, science, and math—reflecting their deep belief in the power of a broad, humanistic education. Now happily retired in Bloomington, Earl and Debi continue to embrace the cultural life of IU, and we are profoundly grateful for the generosity and spirit they bring to the university community.
