Abigail Scott, a 2004 graduate of Thomas Worthington High School in Ohio and 2008 graduate from Indiana University Bloomington was awarded the prestigious Beinecke Scholarship in 2007. At IU, Scott studied linguistics and German and studied abroad in Freiburg, Germany. Scott was a member of the National German Honor Society and a Dean's List student each semester at IU. She also received the Burnett/Masters Junior Scholarship through the Hutton Honors College and was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. She was invited to work in the lab of one of her professors, Daniel Dinnsen, Chancellor's Professor of linguistics, and on his research project involving young children with speech disorders. Ms. Scott passed away in 2011.
