BIOGRAPHY

David Aveline earned his M.A. in Sociology from Concordia University in 1991, and her Ph.D. in Sociology from Indiana University in 1999.

Aveline is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Mount Royal University. Previously, he served as a Sociology Instructor in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Calgary, an Associate Professor of Sociology & Anthropology at Mount Royal College, and an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati.

Aveline specializes in the sociology of stigma, sexuality, deviance, and the family. As well as his research on race and sex, Dr. Aveline is planning a book on the negotiations two parties go through when choosing to have sex, analyzing the sexual negotiations from a phenomenological symbolic interactionist perspective.
