Richard G. Inskeep earned his B.S. in 1950 from Indiana University. He was the publisher of the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, the morning newspaper owned by his family and currently led by his daughter, Julie Inskeep.

Inskeep has been the recipient of IU's 1992 Distinguished Alumni Service Award, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 2006. Inskeep was also awarded IPFW's Ralph E. Broyles Medal in 2003 for his work as a co-chair of the fund drive for the Indiana-Purdue Foundation that collected one million dollars for the Walter E. Helmke Library at IPFW.
