Mark Alan Franke distinguished himself as a student leader while on the IPFW campus while earning his B.S. in 1973, his M.S. in 1984, and his M.B.A. in 1991 in Economics. During his undergraduate years, he served as student government president, editor of The Communicator (campus newspaper), president of his fraternity, and participated in many other activities.

After graduation, Franke was appointed the first publisher of The Communicator. In 1977, joined the faculty at IPFW working in the Financial Aid office and has been employed ever since in various areas, including Information Technology Services and the Comptroller's office. Currently he is associate vice chancellor for enrollment management.

Franke has given his time to IPFW in many ways, particularly as a volunteer assistant men's volleyball coach. This season will be his 23rd year on the bench next to Coach Arnie Ball.

Franke was the 2010 recipient of IPFW's Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
