Linda S. Balthaser came to IPFW in 1969, and she spent many years working in the library. She served as Assistant to the Dean of Arts and Letters and as the IPFW Coordinator for Library and Information Sciences from 1982 until her retirement in 2002, when she was named Assistant Dean Emerita of the School of Arts and Sciences. In addition to sharing the Shaffer medal with her husband in 2005, Linda was also awarded the Ralph E. Broyles medal in 2002 for significant contributions to IPFW. Linda remains involved with IPFW through the FRIENDS and other groups and has been an active volunteer in the university archives. Her degrees were from the University of Indianapolis (B.S., 1961) and Indiana University (M.S. 1962).
