As a business executive, he has maintained a personal commitment to employee development throughout his career, ensuring a supportive environment at all levels of employment in his corporation, and providing an admirable example for other companies.

Mr. Hutton was born in Bedford, Indiana. He earned the Bachelor of Science in business at Indiana University in 1940 and the Master of Science in 1941. Grace & Co. as assistant vice president. Mr. Hutton became executive vice president of W. R. Grace & Co. in 1968, and during the 1960s was also president of his own firm, E. L. Hutton Associates, Inc. He became head of Chemed Corporation in 1971.

In addition to membership on the board of directors of numerous corporations, Edward L. Hutton also devotes his time and energy nationally as an advocate for higher education. He has strengthened Indiana University through his work as national chairman of the Wells Scholars Program, a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the School of Business, and a member of the Campaign for Indiana Council.
