Erik G. Nelson is retired senior vice president and chief financial officer of The Procter & Gamble Company. His career at the $38 billion global leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of consumer goods spans 36 years. His contributions to P&G have been many, including establishing explicit financial goals, identifying an approach for strengthening strategic planning, helping to integrate P&G's worldwide data systems, and launching the company's new Global Business Service organization.

He received a bachelor's degree from DePauw University. After graduating from the Kelley School of Business in 1962 with an MBA, Nelson joined P&G's controller's division. His career with the company, which markets over 300 brands to almost 5 billion customers in more than 140 countries, also took him to Baltimore, MD; Macon, GA; Green Bay, WI; and Cheboygan, MI.

Nelson is a member of the Financial Executives Institute, a board member of the National Association of Manufacturers and of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, a member of the Council of Financial Executives, and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the Kelley School of Business.
