Allen Paul is the Indiana State Senator representing the 27th District (including Richmond, IN), which he has since 1986. As a Republican, he has chaired the Insurance & Financial Institutions committee and was the former Assistant Majority Caucus Chairman and Assistant Majority Whip. Currently, he serves on the committees of Homeland Security, Transportation & Veterans Affairs, Public Safety Subcommittee, Insurance/Financial Institutions, and Commerce, Economic Development & Technology.

He received an associate's degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond, IN, and a bachelor's from Parson's College. Paul is an Army veteran, having served in the First Air Cavalry Division durin the Vietnam War, and is a retired Brigadier General of the Indiana National Guard Reserve. He won the Bronze Star and the President's Award for Service in honor of his military work.

Paul is also heavily involved in civic service. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Howe School, the Advisory Board at Indiana University East, American Legion, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, Richmond, Winchester, & Portland Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, AMVETS, Marine Corps League, United Way, YokeFellow Luncheon Group, and Alumni Board of Directors for Howe Military School. He is a former GOP Precinct Committeeman and past president of Tau Kappa Epsilon National Fraternity.
