Deborah Winders Davis is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Louisville and serves as the Director of the Louisville Twin Study and a co-PI for the National Children's Study-Jefferson County, Kentucky Study Center. She has had over 35 years of experience working on the health and development of infants and children as a clinician, educator, administrator, and researcher. Her research focuses on the interactions between biological and environmental factors, which influence developmental outcomes in children, especially children who are at risk for less than optimal outcomes.

Dr. Davis graduated from Indiana University with a Ph.D in nursing science in 1991. She also holds a minor in developmental psychology, an associate degree in nursing from the University of Louisville, a BSN from the University of Evansville, and an MSN in perinatal nursing from Indiana University. After graduation, she began working at the Neonatal Follow-up Program in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville and was appointed to the faculty in 1993. Dr. Davis has written over 20 peer-reviewed publications, presented over 40 peer-reviewed posters or papers at national conferences, mentored numerous research projects conducted by undergraduate and graduate student researchers. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IU School of Nursing in 2010.
