Una Mae Reck was chancellor of Indiana University South Bend for 11 years (2002-2013) and the first woman to hold the position. She is now a faculty member in the School of Education there. She oversaw a number of development projects on the South Bend campus during her tenure. She previously severed as vice president for academic affairs at SUNY-Fredonia (1998-2002) and as dean of education at Kutztown (Pa.) University (1991-1998).

She earned her Ed.D. degree in curriculum and teaching at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, her M.A. degree in reading from Federal City College in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from District of Columbia Teachers College.

She was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Mike Pence in 2013.
