BIOGRAPHYPaul R. Hawley, BA 1912, was commissioned first lieutenant in Medical Reserve Corps in 1916. In 1920 he was a major, stationed at Camp Grant. In 1931 he was to report to the Army Medical School in Washington, DC as professor of bio statistics sent to Europe in 1941; brigadier general in command of the US Army Medical Corps in the European Theatre of Operations and he was connected with the European Hospitals in 1945-1946.
In 1942, he was the general in charge of Medical Corps in the US Army in London. He spent 10 months in France in World War I as a medical sanitation officer and was in Manila in 1924. He was cited for bravery for outstanding work during the earthquake in Nicaragua in 1931.
