Putt, a 2002 IPFW (Purdue) graduate, received his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry. He then earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (2006). Putt has the distinction of being one of ten family members to have graduated from IPFW.

Putt has published 22 peer-reviewed articles, holds 40 US patents, founded his first company at 16 years old, and discovered a molecule (PAC-1) that contributed to cancer research. Putt currently serves as managing director of the Purdue University Institute for Drug Discovery.
