IUB Athletics Hall of Fame (2017)

One of the most accomplished wide receivers to ever step foot inside Memorial Stadium, Ernest Jones lettered for the Hoosiers from 1984-87. He turned in one of the finest seasons in program history in 1987, as he earned first team All-America honors. Jones also carded Associated Press Big Ten Player of the Year honors, first team All-Big Ten recognition, was honored as the team's most valuable player, and played in the East-West Shrine Game. The Elkhart, Ind., native collected 1,265 receiving yards, which is still the program standard. He set school marks at the time with 66 receptions, 13 touchdowns and 1,807 all-purpose yards. His 2,361 receiving yards are third, 20 TDs share third, and 133 catches are ninth on IU's career lists. Jones was a seventh-round draft pick of the Phoenix Cardinals in the 1988 NFL Draft. He played five seasons with the Cardinals (1988-92) and one with the Los Angeles Rams (1993).
