- Distinguished Alumni Service Award - 1973
As early as his student days, Paul R. Summers displayed the loyalty and leadership that remained the hallmark of his life, benefiting his profession, associations, and IU. The high regard that his fellow attorneys had for him brought important assignments to key commissions and posts, in addition to frequent invitations to participate in legal education seminars.
Summers was a fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Probate Counsel, and served on the College's National Board of regents. Many cultural and service associations sought his guidance and received his dedication. Summers was a faithful supporter of IU's Friends of Music and the Hoosier Hundred. While he was the national president of the Alumni Association, he showed exemplary leadership with enthusiasm, energy, and selfless devotion.
