The University Honors and Awards website was developed to provide a database of recognitions received by individuals connected to Indiana University. The website acts as an archive of achievements that is easy for anyone to access and navigate. It provides a resource for those researching the individuals who received honors and awards from the university and those affiliated with the university who have received significant recognitions from outside organizations.
This website is part of a larger initiative President Michael McRobbie created to demonstrate the university’s traditions of excellence in teaching, research, and service to our state, nation, and world. That tradition goes back to the earliest days of the university when William Henry and Allen Wiley received honorary degrees in 1834 and continues through our bicentennial and into our next century.
The history of how this website was created and our efforts to continually update and improve the information is one demonstration of the dedication of the university to preserve our past and advance into the future through education.
