The Leanne Grotke Award celebrates women whose service contributed greatly to IU’s Women’s Athletics. The award is named after Leanne Grotke Andreas who helped improve athletic opportunities and resources for women at IU through her service as coordinator of women’s sports and then Associate Athletic Director.
This award, the highest honor of its kind given by the university, is presented by the I Association to living persons whose service has made exceptional contributions to the IU women’s athletics program. One recipient, Sandra K. Searcy, helped to improve the alumni athlete connections and championed the merger of the I-Women’s and I-Men’s Associations, serving as the first woman chair of the I Association. This is just one of the many ways these awardees have made a dramatic difference in the lives of Hoosier female athletes.
