About Sara Kurtz Allaei

Sara Kurtz Allaei is the executive director for the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI and assistant vice president for international services for IU. She earned her B.A. in English/Secondary Education from Salisbury University in 1982 and her M.A. in Applied Linguistics from IU in 1986 after teaching English for three years in a community-based adult education program in Beni Suef, Egypt. Allaei joined IU’s faculty as the first full-time lecturer in IUPUI’s ESL program in 1987, and then transitioned to the IUPUI Office of International Affairs as assistant director for services in 1991 where she has held a variety of positions supporting international engagement. In 2001, she served as a Fulbright Scholar as a member of the Fulbright International Education Administrators Programs where she toured campuses, met with government officials and higher education representatives, and attended meetings and events in Germany.
