Gwendolyn Mettetal has been on the faculty of IU South Bend since 1989 and is a Professor of Psychology and Education. She is currently serving as Director of the University Center for Excellence in Teaching, our faculty development center. Dr. Mettetal holds a number of teaching awards including the IU South Bend Distinguished Teaching Award, the (all-IU) Frederic Bachman Lieber Award for Teaching Excellence, and membership in the all-IU Faculty Colloquium for Excellence in Teaching. Early research was on social development, but her current research interests focus on faculty development topics such as mentoring and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from University of Illinois - Champaign-Urbana.
