About Paul Halverson

Paul Halverson is a professor and founding dean of the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI. Halverson earned a A.A., B.A., and M.H.S. from Arizona State University, and a D.P.H. from the University of North Carolina. Halverson came to Indiana University from the Arkansas Department of Health where he served as state health officer and director. He has served in several senior management roles at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including as senior advisor in the office of strategy and innovation, senior scientist and director of the division of public health systems development and research, director of the CDC's World Health Organization's Collaborating Center for Public Health, and director of the National Public Health Performance Standards program. Before joining the CDC, Halverson served as the senior health policy advisor for the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources. He began his career in health administration with 15 years experience as a hospital and health system executive in Phoenix, Minneapolis, and mid-Michigan.

Halverson received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as founding Dean of the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI.
