These prestigious awards, like the Nobel and Pulitzer, are familiar to most, but the brilliance and dedication of the awardees is truly uncommon. The honorees listed here have displayed unparalleled levels of excellence in their area of expertise, bringing national and international recognition to the university.
When Elinor Ostrom won a Nobel Prize in 2012, she was the first woman to receive the honor in the category of economics. She had been a faculty member at IU for over 45 years at that point, receiving support for her work from the university, as all faculty do in their research and creative endeavors.
These awards and honors acknowledge the recipients’ achievement, but also the community they represent. IU is extremely proud to have them represent the university.
