- IUAA President's Award - 2019
Sandy Searcy, BS’86, MS’88, of Bloomington. Sandy is not only known for tenure on the Executive Council but her service with the IUAA began back in 2009 when she joined the board of the I Association. This was just after the merger of the I Men’s Association and the I Women’s Association was finalized. She became the group’s second President – and first woman - of the new organization and exemplified her passion for all aspects of the Association. Through her term as President, Sandy drove the organization to connect with all former winners, especially the women who had represented IU on the court, field, and track, prior to Title IX. She helped establish a yearly award for former women I winner, the Leann Grotke Award, and continues to serve as chair of that selection committee. Her vision at a critical time was the reason that distinction and honor exists today. Sandy is an incredible ambassador for the Alumni Association and the Athletics Department. Her friendly and warm personality has been an asset to all who have come in contact with her over the years and she truly goes above and beyond when assisting alumni and friends of the University.
