About Joe C. Rice

Superintendent of the Elkhart schools since 1949, Rice had held similar positions in Frankfort, Martinsville and Corydon. He had also taught at Rising Sun in his native Ohio County. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa scholastic society, and had been a member of the State Board of Education and the executive committee of the Indiana School Board Association.
