About Wallace H. Martin

Wallce H. Martin was born in Alto, Indiana, a neighborhood of Kokomo. He graduated in 1917 from Indiana University and served in France as a sergeant in the 42d (Rainbow) Division in World War I before returning to study law at New York University. He graduated NYU in 1922, and was admitted to the New York bar in 1923. In 1924, he became associated with the law firm, then Nims & Verdi, in which he was made a partner in 1931.

Martin served a past president of the New York Patent Law Association. On retiring in 1962 as a senior partner in the New York patent law firm that is now Nims, Halliday, Whitman, Howes, Collison & Isner, Martin was admitted to the Indiana bar and became counsel to the Kokomo firm of Fell, Fell & McGarvey. Martin was a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and chairman of the trademarks committee and the section on patents, trademarks and copy rights of the American Bar Association. He is noted for being instrumental in drafting the Lanham Trade Mark Act of 1946.
