About Daniel Zuluaga

Colombian lutenist and guitarist Daniel Zuluaga specialized on early plucked instruments and continuo practice at Indiana University's Early Music Institute with Nigel North. His solo work has been praised for its "rhythmic vitality and a fine sense of color" (Washington Post), and, as an accompanist, been lauded as "exemplary" and full of "great inventiveness" (San Francisco Classical Voice). His 2010 project with Montreal's Ensemble Caprice, which explored music in Baroque Latin America, was nominated for an Opus Prize for concert of the year by the Conseil québécois de la musique, as well as a Juno award. For 2011 he is finalist along with Agave Baroque of the Early Music America/Naxos Competition. He regularly collaborates with internationally-renown groups such as Ensemble Elyma (Switzerland), B'Rock (Belgium), Clarion Society (New York), Musica Angelica (Los Angeles), Portland Baroque Orchestra, San Diego Bach Collegium, Al Ayre Español (Spain), Catacoustic Consort, Concord Ensemble, Musica Ficta (Colombia), Mercury Baroque (Houston). A winner of numerous awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship for studies in Spain, he is currently preparing his first solo album on the baroque guitar collection of François Le Cocq.
