About Martin S. Burkhead

Professor Martin S. Burkhead received his BS from Texas A&M University in 1955, his MA from the University of California Los Angeles in 1957, and his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1964. He joined the faculty at IU in 1964.

An asteroid, 9143 Burkhead (1955 SF), is a main-belt asteroid discovered on September 16, 1955 by the Indiana Asteroid Program at Goethe Link Observatory, Brooklyn, Indiana and named in honor of Professor Burkhead.
