Lester D. Bibler received his B.S. in 1923 and his M.D. in 1925 from Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. Dr. Bibler served as a member of the volunteer faculty for many years. He was active in numerous civic, fraternal, social and medical organizations and received the Maynard K. Hine Medal, which is given to Indiana University alumni for outstanding contributions to their professions, community and alma mater, in 1978, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Medicine in 1981.
Dr. Bibler was instrumental in the organization and establishment of the American Academy of Family Physicians (known then as the American Academy of General Practice) and served as the first president of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians in 1949/50.
