About Miriam Langsam

Miriam Langsam, former associate dean of the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts, and professor of history, served IUPUI as a teacher, administrator and mentor for 40 years. She helped establish the Young Scholars Program, the Women’s Studies Program, American Sign Language/English Interpreting Program and services for students with disabilities.

Langsam and her partner, Jean Oswalt, developed the Langsam/Oswalt Summer Fellowship of Lecturers, which makes it possible for non-tenure track faculty to take a sabbatical for professional development opportunities.
