- School of Dentistry Distinguished Alumni Award - 1987
Ralph G. Schimmele came to IPFW in 1965, when he developed the first dental auxiliary program and he retired as a professor emeritus of dental auxiliary education. He was recipient of the 1990 Ralph E. Broyles Medal and the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1970. He received his degree from Indiana University (D.D.S., 1952). He died in August 11, 2002.
Dr. Schimmele was also an U.S. Army WWII veteran and was involved in the Boy Scouts of America organization for 63 years, having won the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
