William J. "Bill" Studer is the retired director of the Ohio State University library system. He began his career with positions at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and was later hired as the OSU Libraries director in 1977. Studer remained in that role until his retirement in 1999. He is also the second person to earn a Ph.D. from Indiana University School of Library and Information Science, which he graduated from in 1968.
