About Gordon Fisher

Gordan was the track and cross country coach 1944-62 and led IU teams to Big Ten outdoor track championships in 1950 and 1957 and to Big Ten indoor crown in 1957. He led IU to Big Ten cross country championship in 1946 and to NCAA second place finishes in 1952 and 1953. Gordan is the only U.S. coach to produce two gold medal winners in track in the 1956 Olympic Games. He was assistant football coach at IU for four years and also coached football and track at North Central College for 19 years.
