Hena Ahmed, a native of Carmel, IN, graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a B.S. in neuroscience and a B.A. in chemistry. She was a Herman B Wells scholar and a member of the Board of Aeons. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 2012, she helped start the Global Medical Brigades at IUB, raising more than $100,000 in funding for two trips to Honduras. At IUB, she completed an honors thesis in neuroscience as a 2011 Beckman Research Scholar. As a medical student, she also received the 2012 Bertarelli Foundation Fellowship in Neuroscience and support to conduct a translational neuroscience project in Lausanne, Switzerland. In Boston, she started the Medical Resource Delivery Project at Harvard Medical School, which collects and distributes unused surgical and medical equipment to communities in need.
She is currently working on her M.D. at Harvard Medical School.
