Michael Kube-McDowell is a well-known science fiction writer. His books include the Trigon Disunity series, Star Wars: The Black Fleet Crisis series, Alternities, and The Quiet Pools. Kube-McDowell has written in a variety of media, from newspapers to television. He has been nominated for a Philip K. Dick Award (1985) and aHugo Award (1991).
Outside of science fiction, he has written more than 500 nonfiction articles on subjects ranging from space careers to "scientific creationism" to an award-winning four-part series on the state of American education. He also has taught at Michigan State University in their writers workshop in the 1990s.
