Dr. Lorraine O. Walker is a professor of nursing at University of Texas-Austin. She received a master’s degree in nursing education with a specialization in maternity nursing and a doctoral degree in philosophy of education from Indiana University, along with a recent MPH degree in maternal-child health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Walker currently holds the Luci B. Johnson Centennial Professorship in Nursing and is Director of the St. David’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in Underserved Populations. Her research is in the area of health promotion of childbearing-aged women and infants. Her teaching includes global health, data analysis using SPSS, and theoretical and philosophic aspect of nursing. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IU School of Nursing in 1984.
