About Emily Feistritzer

Emily Feistritzer is the president and CEO of the National Center for Alternative Certification (NCAC), a nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C. serving as a resource for data and information on alternate routes to teaching and other educational professions in the country. She is also the president and founder of the National Center for Education Information (NCEI), specializing in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information about education. Feistritzer has also conducted numerous studies on education, especially on how people became educators. She has written 43 books on education, including "Alternate Routes to Teaching" (2007).

Prior to working on the national stage for education, Feistritzer worked as an associate professor, director and coordinator for programs at Union Graduate School, South Carolina Teacher Corps Programs, University of South Carolina, and Indiana University. She began her teaching career as a high school math and science teacher in Covington, KY. Feistritzer earned her B.A. from Thomas More College, her M.T.S. from the College of William and Mary, and her Ph.D. from Indiana University.
