About Dolores Hernandez

Dr. Dolores F. Hernandez a pioneer in science and mathematics education in the Philippines. She was the founder of the Science Education Center (now, National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development of the University of the Philippines) at the University of the Philippines. Under her leadership, she was significant in the development of instructional materials and re-training of teachers in the country.

Hernandez graduated with a doctorate in education from Indiana University in 1960 and received the School of Education Distinguished Alumni Award in 1980.
