A scholarship and a named chair in ballet at the Jacobs School of Music established by Kathy and Gary Anderson only begin the list of Kathy Anderson's contributions to Indiana University.
Her memberships associated with the university include the IU Foundation Arbutus Society, IU Alumni Association and its 1820 Society, Women's Philanthropy Council, Women's Colloquium steering committee, Jacobs School of Music Friends of Music board, Jacobs School Dean's national advisory board and Brown County Playhouse board. She is also a strong supporter of other parts of the university, twice opening her home for School of Medicine development events and hosting a Women's Philanthropy luncheon in Naples, Florida.
In addition to her service to IU, Anderson was a founder of the Pennsylvania Ballet board, which honored her as chair emerita in 2009. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from IU in 1971.
