A Yorktown, IN native, Shelby Gullion graduated with a double major in English, International Studies, and a certificate in the Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP). Gullion was a Cox Research Scholar at IU. While on campus, she was active as part of the International Studies Student Association, as the Secretary of the Virtu Project, and as a member of Oxfam Club at IU. Gullion also served as the Chair of a Residence Hall Judicial Board. While an undergraduate, Gullion studied abroad in Oxford, England as well as on the Kelley School of Business Alternative Break Program in Ecuador.
Guillion was highly active outside of her campus activities. She served as a Junior Counselor and a Special Assistant for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program. She gained professional international experience when she was the South Africa Scholar for ThinkImpact. Gullion developed her writing and editing skills as a writer, editor, and intern coordinator for Pen&Publish and as a book editor for Entrepreneur Unleashed. Her professional development continued with positions as a fellow and mentor with Compass Partners at IU. Gullion also served as the Rwanda Program Liason for the Trockman Microfinance Initiative.
In her junior year, Gullion became a campus campaign coordinator for Teach for America. This experience led to a position as an Corps Member for Teach for America in the Greater New Orleans Area following her graduation.
