Anu Kumar is a Hudson and Holland Scholar who graduated with majors in Journalism, International Studies, and French. Kumar was a member of the Indiana Daily Student, writing as a travel columnist and politics beat reporter as well as working as the Arts Editor. She also served as an editorial assistant for Inside Magazine. As an undergraduate, Kumar gained professional journalism experience as an immigration reporter for Generation Progress. Kumar was involved in campus leadership as the Director of Current Events and Issues for the Indiana Memorial Union Board, as the Vice President of Journalists for Human Rights, and as a member of the 93rd Board of Aeons, an advisory board to the University President.
Kumar is keen to find opportunities in work related to strategic communications, public affairs, digital media, or international relations. She is especially passionate about organizations and publications specifically addressing human rights advocacy. Kumar aims to work with digital specialists as well as politicos in order to influence public policy issues through storytelling. Following graduation, Kumar began her career with an internship at NPR in Washington, D.C.
