Leslie Lundewall was a Cox Research Scholar from Hobart, Indiana who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Neuroscience with minors in Chemistry, Ethology, and Psychology. Outside of the classroom, Lundewall was active in Alpha Chi Sigma, the pre-professional co-ed chemistry fraternity, serving as an Academic Committee member. She also served as the Treasurer for the Honors LLC in Forest Residence Hall. She was a Citizen Scientist through the Chemistry's Department Service Learning program and a Reach High counseling volunteer through the Hutton Honors College.
Lundewall worked as a research assistant during her undergraduate career, studying the effect of stress on dendritic morphology in the prefrontal cortex. She worked for the university in additional capacities as an academic tutor for the IU Athletics Department and as an undergraduate TA for the IU Biology Department. Lundewall also worked in a variety of veterinary-related positions. She served as a veterinary assistant at the Lake Station Pet Clinic, as the assistant superintendent at the Lake County 4-H Dog Program, as a zookeeper intern at the Washington Park Zoo, and as a veterinary technician at the North Central Veterinary Emergency Center.
Lundewall's presented her research at three conferences during her time at IU and was also listed as third author of the publication coming out of that research. Her research experience earned her a position as a GEM Scholar at USC's Center for Dark Energy Biosphere. She also received a Veterinary Scholars Summer Research Grant from Purdue University.
