Lauren McKinney graduated with a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a minor in African American and African Diaspora Studies. She was a Herbert Presidential Scholar and a Hudson and Holland Scholar.
McKinney's involvements outside of the classroom included co-founding the IU Middle Way House Chapter, serving as President of the National Student-Speech-Language Hearing Association, recruiting prospective scholars through the Scholarship Advisory Committee in the IU Office of Scholarships, studying abroad in Ghana, West Africa, and becoming a member and first Vice President of the Gamma Nu chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, McKinney plans to ensure that any child that she encounters has the ability to acquire language skills regardless of their socioeconomic status, cultural background, or experiential differences. She is from Indianapolis, IN.
