Director of the CyberLab and a professor of Computer and Information Technology in the School of Engineering and Technology, Ali Jafari has earned worldwide recognition for his innovative research and information technology expertise in e-learning and professional online network environments, such as the ANGLE Learning, Inc. and the Epsilen Environment. He and his team invented Oncourse, an online course management system now used across all eight Indiana University campuses. He has edited three books on portals, Course Management Systems, and ePortfolio, and he has presented in more than one hundred national and international conferences and published in professional and scholarly journals on a variety of subjects in information technology as it relates to teaching and learning.
His expertise in technology translates research ideas into Web-based programs that enhance the education process for students on the IUPUI campus, as well as being marketable technologies for the general public. Jafari's innovative spirit extends to his philanthropy. He is responsible for launching the Jafari Graduate Fellows program, asking that each fellowship recipient reach back when they are able to provide philanthropic support for those who will follow.
