In 1967, William S. Hall started a law firm in Indianapolis, Indiana as general counsel to the Indiana Hospital Association, and from that time on the firm has centered its practice on health law. In 1984, the firm became Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, continuing its vision to focus on health law matters. The firm has grown over time and now has offices in Denver, Colorado; Detroit, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C. Today, Hall Render is the largest health care focused law firm in the United States with more than 170 attorneys serving health care industry clients throughout the country.
From the time William S. Hall, Class of 1950, founded the firm in 1967, Hall Render has focused on its practice in health law and is now recognized as one of the nation's preeminent health law firms. More than 100 Hall Render attorneys represent more than 500 organizations in a range of health care-related issues, from fraud and abuse, to real estate contracts, to HIPAA and tax regulations. It has been a generous supporter of the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis through its inaugural Hall Render Graduate Fellowship for the Business of Medicine MBA program. Through its nearly 50 year history, Hall Render has funded many IU initiatives, including the Hall Render Fund for Excellence. Their volunteer involvement and financial support of the school's William S. and Christine S. Hall Center for Law and Health enriches every aspect of the school's practical and academic training of law students.
