Standout guard George Hill (2004-2008) remains IUPUI's only-ever NBA draft pick, having been selected in the First Round (26th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. The 6-foot-2 floor general is now the starting point guard for the hometown Indiana Pacers. While at IUPUI, Hill was the 2008 Summit League Player of the Year and closed his career with 1,619 points (17.0 ppg), 547 rebounds, 317 assists and 155 steals in 95 career games. He was a two-time, First Team All-Summit League selection and earned Honorable Mention AP All-America honors following his junior year.
During his career, IUPUI went 61-30 (.670) in his three full seasons, including a school-record 26 wins during the 2007-08 campaign. IUPUI won 74 percent of its conference games during his three years, including a 15-3 mark in 2008. Hill becomes the 16th former men's basketball player to earn induction into the IUPUI Hall of Fame. He was named to The Summit League Hall of Fame in June 2020.
