In the early 1970s, Jane Gerardot earned her bachelor of science in physical therapy and master’s degree in allied health education on what is now the IUPUI campus. For 18 years afterward, she worked as a physical therapist, health care administrator, and owner of a physical therapy and rehabilitation practice. She then left the field to pursue her J.D. from University of Michigan and earned undergraduate and masters level degrees from Indiana University. She now is a partner at Boeglin Gerardot and Grubbs PC. She works primarily in the areas of probate, trust administration, estate planning, elderlaw and related matters. She is a member of the Fort Wayne Estate Planning Council, Planned Giving Council of Northeast Indiana, Indiana State and Allen County Bar Associations. She currently serves on the Executive Boards for University of Saint Francis and Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. She is married to Jeff Leffers.
Although she left rehabilitation health care and administration for a law career more than 20 years ago, physical therapy remains so close to her heart that she still maintains her license to practice. Her time as a student and a professional affected her deeply, and her generosity toward the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences reflects her desire for future alumni to have equally rewarding experiences.
Her contributions include support for the establishment of a bachelor’s degree program in physical therapy at Moi University in Kenya, as part of the IU-Kenya Partnership.
