Dr. Morton leads the re-established department of prosthodontics. He will also create and lead an Interdisciplinary Center for Dental Implants and Aesthetics.
Dr. Morton is a highly respected and accomplished clinician, educator and translational researcher with an international reputation for excellence in contemporary prosthodontics. He is an international leader in the global community, and we look to him to heighten the dental school's international reputation in prosthodontics.
As the Assistant Dean for IUSD Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, he will establish new and will enhance existing strategic partners to broaden the role of technology and digital dentistry at the school; establish local, national and global partnerships to leverage dental school and university resources; and, provide leadership to promote IUSD as a global innovation thought leader in oral health.
Dr. Morton began his academic career in 1987 at the University of Sydney, Australia, while in private practice. After completing his specialty training at Iowa, he served on the faculty at the University of Florida from 1996 to 2008. He was recruited to the University of Louisville in 2008 and served as professor with tenure, chair of the newly established Department of Oral Health and Rehabilitation and as an assistant dean.
Dr. Morton received is BDS in 1986 from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Sydney, Australia, and a master's of science degree and certificate in prosthodontics from the University of Iowa in 1995.
Dr. Morton's research focuses on dental implant loading protocols and dental materials related to dental implants. He has acquired external grant funding throughout his career and has authored or co-authored more than 45peer-reviewed publications, two books, and 12 book chapters. He speaks extensively at national and international meetings and is well known for his expertise in implantology and aesthetic dentistry.
