Dr. David “Woody” Douglas (’80) is known for diligently keeping his classmates connected throughout the years and for having a calming and steady influence on everyone he meets. Dr. Douglas worked as a research assistant in IUSD’s Complete Denture Department in the early 1980s, then served as director of dental services at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Ind., from 1982 to 1997. While holding that position, he opened his own private practice in South Bend. In 1988 he received the ranking of Colonel in the Indiana Army National Guard Dental Corps. In 2000, he began teaching as a clinical assistant professor in the IU South Bend Dental Education Program.
