About J. Susan Parrish

Susan Parrish served as the secretary of the IU Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1998. With over thirty years of service to Indiana University, Parrish worked in the university's office of data systems and services (now University Information Technology Services) from 1976 to 1978, then worked for Professor Morton Marcus in the Division of Research from 1978 to 1989. After a brief time in Florida, Parrish returned to IU working in the Trustees office, then being appointed as secretary of the Board from 1990 to 1998. She then joined the University Budget Office until she retired in 2014.

A native of Georgia and educated at West Georgia College, Parrish studied abroad in Mexico and earned her B.A. in 1971. After graduation she joined the Peace Corps and served two years in Ethiopia (1971-1973), where she worked with the vocational education group to help students who could not get into college develop life skills outside the educational system.

Parrish received the IU Bicentennial Medal in September 2019 in recognition of her distinguished service as secretary of the IU Board of Trustees.
