Awards
- Titled Professor - 2020 - 2024
- Thomas J. Linnemeier Guidant Foundation Chair in Biomedical Engineering
Chien-Chi Lin earned his B.S. and M.S., both in chemical engineering, from the National TsingHua University in Taiwan. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Clemson University where he earned his Ph.D. in bioengineering in 2007. He joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 2016 as an associate professor. He served as a Thomas J. Linnemeier Guidant Foundation Fellow from 2019 to 2020 before receiving the additional, honorary title of Thomas J. Linnemeier Guidant Foundation Endowed Chair and Professor in 2020.
Prior to joining the IU faculty, Lin served as a postdoctoral associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute & University of Colorado, Boulder. Lin is an expert in the area of biomaterials, photopolymerizations, tissue engineering, and bioconjugate chemistry. His lab’s research primarily focuses on designing multifunctional polymeric biomaterials, including hydrogels, nanoparticles, and cell surface coatings, for releasing therapeutically relevant agents and for delivering adult, stem, and progenitor cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.
Throughout his robust research and academic career, Lin has received several awards and honors to recognize his significant contributions to bioengineering. He received the Reiew Excellence Award from the American Chemical Society Publications in 2018, the Abraham M. Max Distinguished Professor Award from the Purdue School of Engineering & Technology at IUPUI in 2017, and more.
